Guru Kiran's 'Maharathi' tops Telugu albums
By B. Anuradha,
Hyderabad, Nov 29 Kannada composer Guru Kiran has arrived in
Telugu cinema with his album for "Maharathi", which tops
this list.
1. "Maharathi": Luckily for Guru Kiran, he has entered
into Telugu film music with a movie that stars Balakrishna,
which has assured record-breaking sales for the album. "Mangamma
Mangamma' and "Uppu chapa pappu charu" are catchy.

2. "Sainikudu": Composer
Harris Jayaraj's peppy album has gained popularity with the
younger generation. Director Gunasekar's insistence on
fast-paced numbers, however, has shackled the talented
musician's creativity. "Bylamo Bylamo" and "Sogasu Chudatharama"
are the pick of the lot.
3. "Khatarnak": Ace composer Keeravani comes back with a
lively album. After "Vikramarkudu", he seems to have given
another hit for actor Ravi Teja. "Bujji Bujji" and "Aa Gaganamlo"
are a rage.
4. "Aadi Laxmi": Music director Chakri has worked hard to
regain his position. "Rojuko Muddu" and "Love you lolly papa"
are interesting.
5. "Mayabazar": Composer Radhakrishna is fascinated with
classical-based tunes and has delivered an interesting album yet
again. "Saroja Dala" and "Kanivini Erugani" bear his stamp.
Chiranjeevi appeal keeps 'Stalin'
on top
By B. Anuradha,
Hyderabad, Nov 29 The charisma of actor Chiranjeevi is
responsible for keeping "Stalin" right at the top of this list.
The top five Telugu films are:
1. "Stalin": With its appeal visibly on the wane, the film by
A.R. Murugadoss
is bound to give way to new releases soon. But for now,
Chiranjeevi's magic helps it stay on top.
2. "Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw": Director Nidhi Prasad's remake
of Hindi hit "Maalamaal Weekly" seems to have worked well. The
comedy has been drawing good crowds and the band of comedians
led by Rajendraprasad is the USP of the film.
3. "Samanyudu": Actor Jagapati Babu, who plays a journalist in
this film, has delivered a hit after a long hiatus. The novelty
lies in the protagonist reforming the antagonist and then going
on a killing spree. This is one of the surprise hits of the
year.
4. "Bommarillu": Even after completing 100 days, the feel-good
entertainer has sustained in select theatres and is drawing good
collections. Though the comedy dominates the proceedings to the
extent of diluting the plot, Andhraites are patronising the film
generously.
5. "Gopi Godameeda Pilli": With no big films around, the comedy
of writer-turned-director Janardhan is pulling in moderate
crowds. Allari Naresh and big-time comedians come together in
this tale of a human chameleon who changes colours to suit his
convenience.
