Indo-Asian News Service
Ranchi, Oct 21 (IANS) Jharkhand's natural splendour will be featured at the World Tourism Fair (WTF) in London Nov 14-17.
"We want to make the NRIs more aware about our state. While the state abounds in natural beauty, we also want to showcase the places of tourist interest at the fair," Jharkhand tourism secretary S.K Choudhary told IANS.
The state will focus on the tiger reserve at the Betla National Park and the picturesque hill station of Netarhat that provides a magnificent view of the sunset as major tourist destinations.
These apart, Jharkhand is a treasure trove of natural beauty, including a dozen water falls. Officials say in recent times the number of tourists has gone up.
"We receive thousands of tourist every year who come here for religious purpose. But we are also trying to attract naturalists who loves to watch the sunrise or enjoy adventure and health tourism," the tourism secretary said.
The Jharkhand tourism department also plans to participate at the Berlin International Tourism fair scheduled in January next year. To attract tourists, the state has invited many private airlines to start their services in the state and is also wooing the hotel industry.
Negotiations are on with the Taj group to set up a five-star hotel in Ranchi.
